A team from INSAF Center for Defending Freedoms & Minorities held a meeting on Tuesday, headed by the center’s chairperson Eman Homaid, with several Dutch embassy employees in Yemen. The meeting was chaired by the Dutch Deputy Ambassador, Djeyhoun Ostowar, and dealt with the reality of religious freedoms in light of the current situation in Yemen.
During the virtual meeting via Zoom, Homaid briefed the Dutch embassy on details regarding the situation of freedoms and rights of minorities in Yemen, and gave an in-depth explanation of the work of INSAF, as the only independent NGO in Yemen that is dedicated to defending the freedoms and rights of minorities in the country, and following up on the various issues closely related to them.
The chairperson highly valued the human rights efforts of the Dutch embassy, especially towards minorities in Yemen, and touched on the activities that the center plans to organize soon and ways of possible cooperation between the two sides.
For his part, the Dutch Deputy Ambassador praised the efforts of INSAF Center in following up and adopting minority issues and freedom of belief in Yemen in recent years.
The two sides enriched the discussion topics with many observations, and have agreed to continue discussions in future meetings.
