INSAF Center meets with Specialists on Human Rights in Yemen at the British Foreign Office

INSAF Center meets with Specialists on Human Rights in Yemen at the British Foreign Office
April 14, 2022

As part of its efforts toward protecting minorities in Yemen, INSAF Center met with
Rebecca Hitchen, Second Secretary Political and Communications Officer, and Liam McGill, Yemen Internal Political Desk Officer at Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office. During the meeting, several issues related to religious and ethnic minorities and ways of promoting and protecting them were discussed.

Both sides discussed the violations against minorities in Yemen, even during the armistice and the ongoing negotiations, in light of the lack of local and international interest in these issues, especially the issue of Jewish Yemenis who are subjected to continuous violations, including the continued detention of Libby Salem Marhabi in Sana’a, which has been under the control of the security authorities under the control of the Houthis since March 2016.

Cooperation between local and international organizations was discussed, which should enhance public freedoms and protect minorities in Yemen, leading to respect for freedoms and consolidating the principle of coexistence and acceptance of others.
