INSAF Center Welcomes the Empowerment of Women in Leadership Positions
September 12, 2023

INSAF Center for Defending Freedoms & Minorities welcomes and expresses its joy at the decisions made to appoint women to senior leadership positions in all fields in Yemen.

The Center emphasized the importance of the recent appointment of eight women to the Supreme Court by the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, in promoting gender equality and building a more just and sustainable society in Yemen.

It stressed that empowering women in leadership positions enhances democracy and contributes to the diversity of ideas in decision-making and that the presence of women in leadership positions constitutes a model that inspires future generations and encourages women to achieve their full potential in all fields.

On a related note, INSAF Center congratulated community activist Misk Al-Maqrami for the success she achieved during a short time in managing the Al-Taawoun Tourism Park in the city of Taiz.

The Governor of Taiz Governorate, Nabil Shamsan appointed Misk Al-Maqrami as director of Al-Taawoun Tourism Park on the 20th of July 2023, under Resolution No. 75 to help eliminate differences and privileges between societal classes.

INSAF elaborated on the fact that the activist Misk Al-Maqrami is considered the first woman from the marginalized group (al-Muhamasheen) to hold such a level of administrative position.

She is one of the Yemeni activists defending the rights of marginalized women, and she has many social works and humanitarian contributions to her credit.

INSAF considered the appointment of a human rights activist defending the marginalized group in an administrative position a reinforcement of the principles of human rights, equality, and diversity, and constitutes an important step towards empowering marginalized communities and giving them fair opportunities to participate in different key societal areas.
