INSAF Center for Defending Freedoms & Minorities released a film about the case of the Yemeni Jewish detainee Libby Salem Marhabi, who has been detained by the Houthi group in Sana’a for over five years without any accusation other than being Jewish.
During the film’s five-minute duration, the film highlights the humane side of Libby’s family, which the Houthis bargained with in order to get out of Yemen, in exchange for the release of Libby. However, the Houthis did not fulfill their promise after the family left Yemen, and have kept Libby imprisoned to this day.
The film hosts “Saida Yousef”, the mother of Libby, as well as his brother “Habub Salem Marhabi”. They both spoke about Libby and his case, and the circumstances that led them and their entire family to leave Yemen, confirming the Houthis’ violation of the promises they made for the release of Libby.
INSAF Center, through its chairperson, Eman Homaid, calls for the immediate release of the detainee Libby Salem Marhabi without any restrictions or conditions in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and in implementation of the judicial rulings for his release. INSAF Center also calls for the rehabilitation of Libby and his family, who suffered a lot of psychological damage due to the Houthis’ continued unlawful and unconstitutional detention of Libby.
