Insaf Center Launches the Second Phase of the “Screens of Peace” Initiative for Children in Aden

Insaf Center Launches the Second Phase of the “Screens of Peace” Initiative for Children in Aden
January 20, 2026

On Tuesday evening, Insaf Center for Rights and Development launched the second phase of the “Screens of Peace” initiative in the city of Aden, in partnership with a number of local organizations in the districts of Dar Saad, Al-Buraiqa, Sheikh Othman, and Al-Mansoura. The initiative will run for 16 days and targets 1,600 boys and girls aged 6–12.

The first screening was implemented in cooperation with Taj Aden Foundation in Al-Shaab area, targeting 300 children.

These screenings come as part of the Screens of Peace initiative, which aims to provide a safe and educational environment for children in Yemen—especially marginalized and displaced children—through purposeful cinematic screenings. The initiative seeks to reduce the negative psychological and behavioral effects of war and violence by using cinema as a therapeutic and communicative tool, while also promoting mental health and psychosocial support for children amid conflict and deprivation of recreation. It also aims to uphold children’s right to play and entertainment as a fundamental child right, not a luxury; to create safe community spaces that promote social integration and informal learning; to support civil society efforts in child protection; and to build positive alternatives to unsafe digital content or dangerous environments.

It is worth noting that the first phase of the initiative, implemented by Insaf Center, targeted 420 children. The screenings are also accompanied by a set of interactive recreational activities for children, including clown shows, competitions, and coloring activities.

Rami Awn, Assistant Director of Programs and Projects at Insaf Center for Rights and Development, said about the initiative:

“This initiative brings joy to children’s hearts and provides them with an interactive environment that promotes positive values and social cohesion. It creates a safe recreational and educational space for children that helps improve their psychological well-being and overcome the effects of conflict on their daily lives and mental health.”
