INSAF:
INSAF Center for Defending Freedoms & Minorities welcomes the release of the four journalists as part of the prisoner exchange agreement that was reached last March.
The detainees, Abdulkaliq Omran, Akram Al-Waledi, Harith Hamid, and Tawfiq Al-Mansouri, were arrested along with five other journalists in 2015, by the Houthis in Sana’a, and were subjected to detention and torture, leading to their trial and the issuance of a death sentence against them without informing the verdict to their lawyers or relatives.
INSAF Center would like to congratulate the families of the released journalists, after years of oppression, deprivation, and the loss of hope in seeing their loved ones. We would also like to call for the immediate release of all detained journalists who are still behind bars due to their journalistic work.
INSAF Center renews its full solidarity with the Yemeni journalists who are still behind bars, as well as the detainees who are subjected to the worst types of arbitrary detention due to their faith and religion.
