INSAF Center for Defending Freedoms & Minorities received confirmed information that security forces stormed the house of Baha’i sect members in Sana’a, during their meeting, on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
The sources confirmed that Houthi security forces detained at least 17 people, including five women, who were present at the same meeting and took them to an undisclosed location.
Baha’is have been subjected to regular security campaigns and scrutiny for over a decade, however, these campaigns intensified after the Houthi group took control of the capital, Sana’a, in September 2014.
INSAF Center calls on the de facto authorities in Sana’a to release the detainees immediately and ensure the implementation of laws related to citizens’ rights and the rights of assembly to political, social, and cultural groups, and freedom of expression within the provisions of the constitution and relevant laws.
