Today, a digital violence training program focusing on gender-based violence for judges and public prosecution members in Aden has commenced.
This training is part of Safe Space project being implemented by the INSAF Center for Rights and Development and supported by the French Embassy in Yemen.
The three-day training will cover various concepts, including combating cyber blackmail and enhancing legal and judicial protection mechanisms.
Safe Space project, executed by the center we continue in four stages, targets 25 judges, including male and female judges and public prosecution members in Aden, over three days.
French Ambassador to Yemen Catherine Grom emphasized the importance of this pioneering project in Yemen during her Zoom speech, expressing the embassy and French Foreign Ministry’s readiness to support such important programs and projects aimed at creating positive change in society.
The Chairman of INSAF Center for Rights and Development , Eman Homaid, in her Zoom statement clarified that the program is part of previous efforts by the center, which has been seeking protection mechanisms for cyber blackmail cases since 2020.
She urged the judicial authorities to work diligently and develop a legal framework to address legal loopholes concerning these issues, highlighting the exceptional circumstances and the potential victimization faced by all. She encouraged them to handle these cases with great care and to empower women to seek assistance.
And she stated that the program aims to equip judges, security officers, criminal investigators, representatives of civil organizations, journalists, and social media influencers with the skills to address cyber blackmail crimes and combat all forms of gender-based digital violence.
Through this program, the center seeks to enhance the capacities of judicial authorities, security agencies, all relevant governmental and societal entities, and prepare them to handle such cases in four successive stages.
