Today, INSAF Center for Rights and Development hosted the preparatory meeting to announce the formation of the “Digital Safety Alliance,” with the participation of 15 civil society organizations and institutions concerned with digital rights and the protection of all segments of society.
The meeting was inaugurated by INSAF’s Executive Manager, Mahmoud Ibrahim, who emphasized the importance of this alliance in light of the increasing prevalence of cyber extortion crimes and the growing number of victims, especially women and girls. He highlighted the urgent need for collective efforts to protect and raise awareness within society.
During the meeting, a preparatory committee for the alliance was formed. The committee discussed and approved the alliance’s name, goals, vision, and mission. The “Digital Safety Alliance” aims to raise public awareness about cybercrimes, with a particular focus on the phenomenon of cyber extortion, which has become an increasing threat to various segments of the population.
The alliance seeks to protect all members of society from the risks associated with modern technology, with a special focus on safeguarding women and enhancing their capacity to confront extortion and online violations.
This alliance represents a foundational and pioneering step in Yemen towards building a coalition that promotes digital safety, spreads a culture of prevention, and strengthens cooperation and coordination among civil society organizations in confronting escalating cyber threats.
