On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, INSAF Center for Rights and Development organized a mock trial event as part of the SAFE project activities, with support from DT Institute. The event was attended by several participants and individuals interested in legal and human rights issues.
The event aimed to promote the principles of justice and the rule of law, and to shed light on the six grave violations against children through a realistic simulation of judicial proceedings. One of the cases previously documented by the center was selected for this exercise.
The event witnessed remarkable engagement from the participants, who took on the roles of judges, lawyers, witnesses, and defendants in a training environment that simulated real-life court proceedings.
This activity is part of the center’s ongoing efforts to raise legal awareness among marginalized groups within the human rights field, under the SAFE II project, which focuses on the six grave violations committed against children by parties to the conflict in Yemen. The project aims to empower communities to protect children’s rights and ensure access to justice.
The event was attended by representatives from judicial and law enforcement authorities, as well as a group of leading civil society organizations in Aden.
In a statement, Maria Ahmed, Assistant Program Manager, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to all attendees and participants in the mock trial event. She praised their positive engagement and commitment to supporting the path of justice and human rights.
She concluded her statement by inviting everyone to follow and engage with the center’s activities through its official social media platforms, highlighting their significant role in spreading legal awareness and enhancing community participation.
