The administration of Insaf Center for Defending Freedom and Minorities met with Mr. Eric Salmgren, the Swedish Deputy Ambassador in Riyadh and the diplomatic official who is responsible for the Yemen file.

The two sides talked about the efforts of Sweden’s Special Envoy for Yemen Mr. Peter Semneby to stop the war and bring peace. They also discussed the steps that have been taken over the past months, whether inside Yemen or abroad. Furthermore, the Swedish side heard a brief report on the work of the Insaf Center to defend freedoms and protect ethnic and religious minorities, and the developments taking place in the context of defending the Jewish minority as well as the Baha’i minority. In addition, the report reviewed the efforts made by the Center so far to release the Yemeni detainee, Salem Marhabi, who is unjustly imprisoned in Houthi prisons in Sana’a.

The two sides also talked about how to enhance cooperation between the Center and the Swedish civil society organizations, and the possibility to benefit from the leading Swedish experiences in the field of protecting human rights, especially minorities.
